stator wire question

ok hi everyone my name is josh and I'm an addict..oh wait wrong group..lol.. anyways I have what might be a stupid question. so I left my stator wires un hooked overnight cause I'm still hunting down my electrical gremlin. well when I looked at them the next day my one stator wire had oil all over the bullet connector. when I looked closer it seemed to of traveled its way OUT of the insulation. no oil on the outside of the wire it was coming from the inside of the wire. weird I know.

so does anyone know wht this is a sign of and would it contribute to some of my electrical gremlin?

Are you sure it isnt just an eletrical lube like they use to help prevent corrosion? There is no reason for oil to be leaking from the wire. Shrugs

umm yeah not lube. that's motor oil.. and why wouldn't it be possible because there is oil in the stator and the stator wire goes into the stator.. so why would the oil in the stator travel down inside my stator wire? is it overfull? and if so would that restrict electric current?

Oil seeping through the tight insulation, traveling up; what 18 inches or so??? I guess its possible but I have never heard of such a thing occuring before. Then again I didnt think it was possible for one man to screw a country up in 8 short years like GWB has...lol

Peace

What is happening is "wicking" similar to dropping one end of a string into a bowl of water and leaving the other end on the table, water flows through the string. This just means oil has found a way into the wire from the stator end. I haven't found that it messes with conductivity very much if at all because the oil travels in the minute air spaces between the wire strands. I hope this clears things up a little at least.

btw ..... I'm an addict too .... just going through withdraws while rebuilding the bike.

He said the wire was disconnected, and I'd guess hanging down.
Any oil that may have been in the wire will certaily leak out then.
