Kickstand switch

I have not rode my bike yet.the kickstand switch is gone but wires are there.will it go in gear or do I have to connect the two wires before it will?i have a few things to do yet before its maiden voyage so just wanna find out so I can fix it or whatever while it's still down.thanks

I think you can connect them together, but it is recommended that you replace the switch. But that is up to you.

if the switch is bad/non-existant, you need to connect the 2 wires (can be done up under the left side neck cover, where they connect to the main harness) or it will shut ignition off if you release clutch with it in gear.
