Stator Wire?

Took the side panel off the other day and noticed that one of my yellow's from the stator was fried and the connector between the two halves was pleasantly melted together.

Looks like some tugging or other wear exposed some wire that got everything hot enough to cause some trouble. I'll be replacing this wire tonight or tomorrow, but that brings up the question, what am I replacing it with? I'm fine with soldering, splicing, taping, etc, I just don't know what sort of shopping to do for the replacement wire.

I tested that wire once and it think I remember that it's 18 AWG. If you're replacing just the toasted part and the bullet connector, then splice in some 18 gage automotive wire. If you want to do it up right, replace all three stator leads with 14 AWG all the way from the stator to the R/R plug. You can source the female R/R connector inserts from various places.

Let us know what you do.
