Darn Stator gromet.

Well I cut the x stator out of the motor without removing the engine from the bike. The only problem I had was the gromet popped out and fell down inside the casting. Now I know I'm being lazy not wanting to pull the motor and the gromet is so far down I can no longer see it. Has anyone had this happen what damage could the rubber gromet cause. yes I know it sound stupid to leave in but if the rubber Really would cause harm well then I might be lazy on this one.

well, it may not cause any problems right now, but I bet it will eventually.

when it breaks down, gets chewed up by moving parts, ect., think of all the small parts of it circulating around inside the engine..

in other words, would you want little pieces of rubber floating around in your bloodstream? that's essentially what could happen.

wont even go into possibilities of metal dust from removing the stator without pulling the cover off....

Well I got the grommet out. Vacuumed the internals flushed and repeated Then oil flushed and repeated. Looks all clean and shiny. Funny thing was the grommet fell forward and was sitting on the front side of the casing sitting in front of the lower points and I kept looking down to the back of the motor. Once found it was out in 2 seconds. What a relief I was so prepared to pull the motor this morning Now I don't have to
