Tach Success Stories

I absolutely love my VN750! The only thing that keeps her from being "fully" functional is the tach. Mine jumps around but usually kicks at in some point but reads double what it should (70MPH = 9750RPM). I know the tach has been an issue with several posters. I'd love to hear any success stories from folks who have been able to cure their tach problems. What solved it? What didn't?

Are you sure its the tach itself and not a contaminated tach signal? Need an oscillosope to be sure.
Open the tach and check for solder cracks also.

Garage
Most intermitant tach problems are caused by bad wiring somewhere, an electical system about to die, or just a bad tach.

If you are SURE all is fine everywhere else...then the tach is bad and simply needs to be replaced.

That is the sucess story in a nutshell...............
