Headlight Modulation

I have a headlight modulator on my low beam headlamp and I recently started to question whether it's working as expected. Plug the module between the harness and the headlamp it winks the bulb on and off, right? Here's the rub; the headlight warning indicator flashes as the bulb is turned on an off and this means that the reserve lighting controller senses that the low beam lamp is burned out and SHOULD be trying to switch on the high beam lamp on each cycle. From looking at the headlight, I cannot tell if it's modulating between low and off four times per second, or low and high. I haven't yet tested for voltage on the high beam circuit to see if the controller is switching it on. Has anyone else looked in to this?

My modulator is hooked up to the High beam, at least this is what the instructions say. Yes the headlight warning light flashes on and off as the modulator flashes the high beam. Calif says you have to have it on the high beam.

Ditto--have mine hooked up to the high beam (only), also.

And yes, the headlight indicator idiot light flashes on and off with the modulator.

Why would you want your modulator hooked up to the low beam, anyway?....

Does it have a light sensor on it, so it wont flash at night?

If so, maybe where you have it is too dark and it thinks it's nighttime?

Should have a photo cell. I thought it is illegal to run on high beams, very offensive for oncoming traffic especially in daytime.

Exactly! I don't want to piss anyone off, just be noticed.

My unit has a photocell so the flashing is disabled at night. However, if the reserve lighting device thinks the low beam is burnt out every time the modulator winks it off, won't it try to energize the high beam? I think my headlight might therefore be blinking between low and high rather than low and off.

Has anyone with a headlight modulator on the low beam noticed this?

Send a message via Yahoo to Ccspinner
The directions state to put it on the high beem so you can turn it off when you switch to low beam.
And mind does flash my headlight warning light also.

Ill bet it flashes high/low beam then, that how it gets that flutter, its just an electronic high/low beam switch.
