bike died on the street, battery dead -- Updated

So I'm going to go ahead and assume its a charging issue...brand new MF battery and brand new plugs...i haven't looked at anything yet but if it is a charging issue is there a definitive method for telling whether its the stator or the r/r? could it be both?

whats the best prices you have found for the part(s)?

thanks

went and pulled the battery...

rectifier looks like it could possibly be original, hehe...i'll run that test tonight and see what i can find...hoping its the r/r cause that's easy...anyone want to crush my dreams now before i get too hopeful?

also, i noticed in the fuse box that the 30 amp main fuse was loose...could this be the problem? can't check until i get battery charged thogh

Garage
It could be the fuse...check all the wires for damage...I was having the same problems, and I found that after three days of trouble shooting if i would have started by doing continuity checks of all the wires I would have found the problem faster. How does the connector look...if it is melted or burnt looking then check all the wires for a short to ground.

I've got a spare working rectifier if you need one. Hope that's all it turns out to be!

Cindy, that would be awesome! how can i get in touch with you?

We took a closer look this evening and ruled out the junction box and fuses...we noticed a somewhat large amount of acid corrosion...the connector on the r/r was very corroded as was the r/r itself...and then two of the yellow wires leading from the stator had some heat damage and/or were corroded...one was even exposed but i don't think it was going to ground...my mechanic friend is going to look at it more in-depth this evening and let me know...he's of the mind that we repair the wires from the stator and replace the r/r and my problems should be fixed...

again, any and all insight is much appreciated...
