How man times can you charge a MF battery?

How man times can you charge a MF battery?

I really like the bike, but am having problems starting it. My battery has died at least 6 times in the past year. Each time, I take it out and recharge it and it works just fine (until is runs out juice, which is becoming more frequent). I ride almost every day.

Right now, I have a Yuasa MF that I installed last summer. Most of my rides are short and I ride all winter in NYC. I'm pretty sure everything else it OK. I rode 500 miles this past week almost all on the freeway and it was fine. And, I had tune up a couple of weeks ago and made sure they tested the charging system. I think I'm going to replace my battery and charge it every few weeks to keep it strong. Does that sound like a good way of dealing with my situation?

Thanks,
John

No!
You should not have to charge it every few weeks, if you are riding it on a monthly basis.
You may have a weak battery, have it tested;
Your charging system may be guilty, run a volt meter on it,
should be 13-14.7volts engine running.
May have a drain on the system, run an amp meter in line by taking the ground cable off at the battery and in series attach a voltmeter set up at 10 amps, this bike should have zero drain when key is off.

Do you think it might be related to my rides not being sufficient to properly charge the battery?

I ride about 5 times a week, but my rides are usually short and I have been riding all winter when the temperature is above 30. The battery was fine for about 6 months and than it died. I charged it and was OK for another 2 months until it died again. And technically, it didn't really die. The headlight was on, but there wasn't enough juice to start the bike. After the 2nd time I couldn't start it, it seemed to drain faster. Do you think I've tried to charge it to many times?

That can happen john, everytime it runs completly down it weakens it.
Put a volt meter on the battery terminals with the engine running, and tell me what readings you get!
