finally happened

Well, looks like I lost the stator.

decided to go ahead and plunge in and do it all right when I do it. Gonna use either a rewind from TPE, or if the local shop my neighbor uses for alternators does stators, may go with them and see how it works out. Also going to go MOSFET regulator, and change them balance dampers while in there...

gathering the parts list of what I need to order so I can get as much ahead of time as possible.

gonna be walking or stealing wifes car for a few while, (possible even a few weeks)

Why change balance dampers?

because they deteriorate over time and when you change the stator you are only one step away!

how many miles did yours make it? and are you doing the plate mod as well? if you are keeping the bike its a good ideal1

a little over 33k showing, but I know my odometer isn't too reliable..

plan on keeping bike, that's why I am going whole hog on it and putting the time/money in now. not sure on the plate yet, will have to see how funds/timing goes. as it is, its gonna be probably 4 weeks before I get it over to the garage where I am gonna do the work

exactly. 2 bolts away from the dampers, I would be a fool to not change them, especially since my luck (which has run about as true as luck can) I would have to replace them within 6 months.

I decided on the plate after hearing of a couple failed second stators, and even an installation of a faulty one, 50 - 60 bucks for a plate from glen was worth a little reassurance to me. this is the second time mine has been out. once for a stator and once for an oil leak where I decided to do the dampers while I fixed the leak and do the plate mod
