Replace dash lights with led?

Title says it all. Can it be done? Electrically, I have no clue.

I think the stock bulbs take more power than an led, so you would have to have a resistor in line?

just get the led equiv for the dash bulbs, checking the overall size as well (some LED bulbs can get quite bulky) and plug and play

No resistors will be needed

It's harder to get the dash apart than it is to change the LEDs

if they are automotive wedge base, as long as they are the right size, they are plug and play. some will only work one way, some will work either (depends on the LED itself, wether or not its wired internally to make non-polarity sensitive.) if you plug one in, and it don't work, just turn it around. they are usually not harmed by reverse polarity

Where did you get the bulbs and what colors do they come in? I need to change several lights out on my dash.

I just looked for t10 wedge base led on eBay and picked up ten for 1.78

They won't come til after Christmas... But for two dollars, can't beat it.

They only had green and yellow, but other vendors have all colors

superbrightleds while not the cheapest, has good selection of leds (possibly too much, as its hard for me to decide which to order), as well as a good cross reference for various bulbs

Has anyone tried red LEDs for the dash? We use red lights for astronomy since they don't cause the eye to dilate like the other colors. If you did, any issues with their use?
