Charging issues

I have read the sticky about the charging system check. My volt meter is not very good and I am not sure of the out come of the first step. But on the as volt check I got 24-30 votes at idle and 50-54 at about 3000 rpms on each of the stator wires in pairs. I put a volt meter on the bike and it was on 13.6 volts when I took it off the charger. I started the bike and and it showed 12.9 volts at idle and 13.7 if I remember correctly at 3000 rpms. After it warmed up it stayed at 12.7 at idle at 3000 and at 5000 rpms. It would not go up. So according the the sticky the stator could be going to ground when warm so I pulled the connections free again and checked the ac volts on pairs on the three wires and they all still had 24-30 at idle and 48-53 at around 3000 rpms. If they are still showing this voltage it seems to me that the stator is ok and the problem is more than likely with the R/R. Am I correct in assuming this. I know that yall have a lot of expereance with these bikes. Thanks for any help.

It tells how to check the r/r in the electrical section in the Vulcan verses.

yes it sounds as if the r/r is the culprit

do you have stock exhaust and is the r/r located in its factory location on the bottom of the battery box?

I would do the resistance checks on the stator cold then when the engine is warmed up. Wouldn't call the r/r quite yet.
