oil leak after stator replacement

I just replaced my stator and stator cover gasket
When running I have a very slight oil leak.
looks like its coming from the stator cover gasket by 2 bolts
I am thinking it needs to be tighter but I do not want to over tighten them its torked to 80 inch lb
can I tighten them up more?

Sorry to hear this, how was it to change out your stator? Was it a beating? Mine went out last week and I plan to replace it next week. Is there any one idea, or tools thats a must have?

Plan for two days. Visit the library and pick up a Clymer's manual (or buy one). Tools needed are:

Metric socket set
Metric wrenches
Screwdrivers
Torque wrench
Breaker bar (for those stubborn bolts/nuts)
Metric allen key set
A jack (or some mechanism to support and lower the engine)

and patience, lots of patience.

'92 Kawasaki Vulcan 750

Mods:
Rattle-can high gloss black paint job
Frame, engine, Headers/exhaust painted satin black
Ears shaved, K&N pod filters
TPE Stator, MOSFET R/R, Magna Power AGM battery
Pickup Coil mod
New mirrors, grips, cables
VN900 seat
Straight pipes with 8" baffles

The electronic manual in my signature is also very handy.
Are you sure of the oil leaks location?
Many of us have had the grommets where the wire come out of the engine leak.

It does look like the gromets are leaking how do I fix that?

My grommets leaked for years, though not very much. I just stuffed a piece of paper towel in there behind the wires to soak up the oil so it wouldn't drip. It wasn't enough of a leak to concern me. I considered using spray brake cleaner to spray the area with, to clean off all the oil, then using silicone to seal around the wires, but never got around to it. It leaked for at least 30,000 miles.

Clean & silicone is one answer. Dissasemble & seal the cavity where the grommets reside is the propped answer. Though, not a fun one. Did you use any sealant there when you reassembled? You should have.
I did the sealant trick on the out side. Worked fine. Just not pretty. I would suggest taping off the area so you can get a clean line where you apply the sealant.
Be sure to remove the tape "before" the sealant sets up!

I cleaned the case and wires and put silicone on today I will let it sit overnight to cure.
I will start her up tomorrow and see if it worked.
I hope so as the thought of removing the motor again is not sounding like fun.

Had the same issue after my stator (TPE) replacement. Seemed to me the oil was wicking out from the webbing that was used to put the stator wires through. Noticed a couple drops on the ground a while after I shut the bike off. Lately it seems that it stopped.

The bike ran great today on a 40 mile ride
with no oil leak
