Puzzled now

Ok, does the fire, fire on both cylinders at the same time just the cylinder that doesn't need to fire at the time doesn't affect it.

I did the coil relay mod last year and then had to shut down working on the bike. When I came back to it I got to looking at it and I can't figure out how the fire works (spark). On a car you have a distributor cap with a rotor to fire the sequence but on this bike it seems to fire both cylinder at the same time. Am i missing something, or is this correct?

Its the pickup coils that do the timing. Check out the pickup coil mod page.

Ok I just realized that the other wire does the timing. There is one wire that is alway hot and the other wire completes the circuit causing the fire.

Yes it is waste spark, if that is what you are asking. The IC fires every crankshaft revolution. There us no crankshaft reference, no CPS.

The ignition coils positive lead (12V) is constant....the coil fires by the ground being pulsed.

There is a spark on both strokes as mentioned above....it is normal.

Not true... Primary windings are always energized, the ground is also contestant... The secondary windings energize when the ignitor control box sends a positive charged signal to the black and green wires. The secondary windings cause the magnetic field to collapse on the primary windings thus forcing the extra voltage out the plug wires to the spark plugs.

Don't know who is correct on this one but on the Honda Rebel and Nighthawk the spark fires every revolution so there is a wasted spark when the piston reached TDC on the exhaust stroke. Since we have a similar pickup system I'd suspect that wmsonta and kc2dgg are correct on this one and that our bikes fire every revolution with one of the sparks being wasted every other revolution.

It does fire each time. Otherwise there would be no reason for the reed valve, airbox crap.
