LED light kit feedback, etc

Hey, Everybody!!!.....

I recently installed an LED light kit on my VN750.

I thought the rest of you might somehow benefit from my experiences.

This kit was installed, not really for the "bling" factor, but mainly for better bike visibility during dusk/dawn/dark conditions.

The light bars that are "strips" measuring 3" and more really kick out a lot of light, and will easily get you noticed in after-hours traffic. Four of the bars measure 5 1/4" long, and have 12 LEDs each. These especially do a great job as marker lights.

The 3M double-sided tape that is used to secure these units is really fantastic stuff. Don't let the idea of this tape discourage you from pursuing something like this!

The overall quality of the kit was fine, except for the wiring harness that included the switch and the fuse.

In short (no pun intended), this harness was a mess!!! The company's quality control and line work were apparently in "I really don't give a xxxx" mode when this harness was made. Shrinkwrap was completely loose and unfinished on one of the connections--and the other wiring connections were bad, or ready to fail!!!.....

Bottom line: when purchasing accessories, I would encourage everyone to try to research each vendor before making a purchase, and only do business with those that have an established reputation for producing consistent quality in their products. Visit the BBB on-line for info, and/or check out this (and other) forums before plunking your plastic down.

Good luck!!!!.....

Can ya give us the name of the supplier ya got the kit from?
Also, were these anything like the LED strips you can get from auto parts stores?

The LED's I put on my tail end are all from truck stop suppliers. Not the best looking, but big, bright, and tough.

Post some pics for us to check them out.

By pix, do you mean close-ups of the LED strips, or just pix of the bike after I installed the kit????.....

Hyper, I have yet to see these in auto parts stores around here.

You might tell me what store chains you're talking about, and I'll do a double take.

All my photo files are too big to post here. I'll have to try again, later...
