Have you tried unplugging and replugging the bulb? Your low beam hot side connector may be a little loose or dirty.

Ive been wondering about this for a while. Had it at the shop and they spent a while trying to track down a short. I already changed the bulb and the shop did too. The shop seems to think there is a short in the stator or a lose connection to the stator.

It could be a bad reserve lighting unit or a wire broken from the low beam bact to the rlu.Sounds like the rlu is kicking on.JMO

This may have nothing to do with your headlight, but according to Daniel Meyer, halogen headlights will burn almost indefinitely.
However they get dimmer with time and should be changed out about every 30k miles on your moto or cage.

Fixed it for you....

( he said he put in a new bulb)

And I think your limit on Daniel Meyer quotes has run out....

Anyway, be a good idea to check all your wiring...especially the stator wires.

I do need to ask if you just noticed that the headlight seemed dim....as the first time I looked I thought there was something wrong.....only to find out that "that's as bright as it gets" on the stock low beam.

Not so. Olglejust posted the problem, then Balzout came in and said he changed his bulb.
