Red face Battery died then headlight won't work

Rode my bike to work, 8hours later wont start.....starter is clicking but didn't seem to have the guff to turn over, I jumped it and it ran fine for about 15miles till I had to put gas in it, of coarse stopping to do so then same thing. I jumped it again get on the road my headlights on and working then 3min later my headlight goes off (at night) and now won't come back on. Checked the bulb/wiring up front and it's fine, checked fuses and their good. After reading through the threads it seems it could be the rectifier and or stator? Has this happened to anyone else? And how can I check it out?

A leg of your stator has most likely failed. The light is triggered by one of them.

Check the connectors (3 bullet connectors with yellow cables) for the stator going to the rectifier. There is an electrical workup in the Vulcan Verses that you can verify the failed stator with a multimeter.

99% sure you'll have to change the stator. We have docs in the Vulcan Verses how to do it, and even a mod to make it easier next time, if it happens. (tuxedo mod).

Once you remove the bad stator you can have it rewound by Tim Parrot www.tpe-usa.com theyre better than the cheap Chinese aftermarket ones.

Sorry for the bad news.

X2 95% you've got a bad stator. It may be charging a little but not enough to recharge the battery. The fact the headlight cut off is probably an indicator that there isn't enough voltage in one of the 3 stator leads to activate the headlight relay, that or your battery voltage just got to low to run the headlight.

switch the stator wires around and see if your headlight comes on when you start the bike if it does then i will be 100% sure that your stator is bad
