2001 vn750 turn-signals on a 1988 vn750

Ok, I have a 2001 parts bike, and has been great in getting my 1988 on the road. I'm about 90% there.

I tried fitting the 2001 turn signal lamps (left and right) onto my 1988. They fit, but it appears I've run into an issue. There are 3 wires (black/yellow, grey and blue) for the 2001, and the 1988 appears to only use two (green/black/yellow).

Is there a way to make it work easily?

That's a negative ghostrider. If I use the blue, I get parking lights, if I get turn signals. Unfortunately, not both.

The 88 doesn't have running lights (afaik), just blinkers?? My 86 never had running lights. I translated a pair from a 06 and also had 3 wires on the blinkers, and only 2 wires on the bike. I just didn't connect the third un-needed wire.

Got it thanks. That's why the rears never come on. I thought it was something wrong.

My '86 has both Running & Turn Signals front (must be three wire !), Turn Signals (two wire) only on rear (Amber Lens).

sounds to me like you have the front and rear blinkers swapped.

BTW...if you are looking to replace them bulbs with LED's, check my signature.
