I was having hot starting problems. I took a look at Dianna's information on reseting the coal pick ups. Mine where at .025" so I reset them to the recommended .020". I thought what is .005 of an inch going to do. Well let me tell you that .005" made the biggest difference in the world. No only will my Roxie start the first little push of the starter when hot but, it runs better then ever.

Being a machinist, I see .005" measurements/tolerances on a daily basis (sometimes we're happy to have that much tolerance, occasionally we only have .001" or less!).
Even though .005" is only about the size of a human hair, it can make all the difference, as you've found out.
