Installed brake light modulator this weekend.
I just installed a brake light modulator. The brand was Kahtec International sold on line by My motorcycle brake light.com. I'm not saying this brand was/is better than others, this is just what and where I purchased it. Due to the VN750 having two bulbs in the brake light housing I needed to purchase the "Plus" model, and opted for the "Plus Intelligent" model. Six flashes when the brake is first applied and the three flashes every three seconds as long as the brake is applied.
The instructions were good but not model specific so it took some research for me to feel comfortable installing it. I'm not very versed in electrical stuff. So should you feel inclined to install one yourself here is what I've learned.
Remove the seat and remove the brake light housing. The lead from the under the battery that goes to the brake light has three wires that then split (at a 'Y'connector) into three wires to each bulb in the housing. On "my bike" the black wire with a yellow stripe was the ground, the black wire from the modulator gets connected to it, and you only have to connect to one ground, doesn't matter which one. Connect both the red wires from the modulator to both of the blue wires leading to the brake bulbs, one on each. Next connect both of the blue wires from the modulator to both of the same blue wires leading to the brake bulbs between the bulbs and the previous red connection. Then cut both of the bikes blue wire between the red splice and the blue splice.
$38 delivered to my door, with all the connectors. I feel that's a lot of safety for the money. Hope this helps others with there installation.
