WOOHOOO!!! No Stator Change

Just an update from last week. My '00 Vulcan was having charging system issues. With a little help I was able to narrow the problem down to the r/r. I ordered the electrex from bikebandit.com. These guys are great, I ordered late Wednesday night and didn't expect the part to reach me until mid week this week, it shows up on Saturday morning.. ..wow, that's fast.

I installed it, fired up the beast and read the DC voltage across the battery. I was getting 15+ @ 2000 rpm. I took it for a spin and did the DC across the battery thing again and all is well. I feel like I dodged a bullet here, but the bike and I are much happier.

Thanks for everyone's input in helping me diagnose the problem, you guys (and gals) rock.

Nothing better than finding out the stator is not invovled. Blew my r/r in Gettysburg last year and thought for sure the stator was toast. Oddly, it wasn't - and i was everso grateful.
I'm still thinking about painting Orleans Eagles green, just to keep pokin' at ya!

That's great news!

Now makes sure there's an AGM type battery in there and you're good to go.

Jon, I've added an AGM battery and done the r/r relocation (too little too late for the old r/r). Next is a re-lube of the splines, it's been about 10k miles since they've been lubed, so it's time.

Cindy, there's nothing wrong with eagles green, as long as you don't try riding in TX, some of us Cowboys fans get a little territorial. ....and who knows, silver and blue just may be in Rowdy's future???

Uh oh - your bike's name is Rowdy? Well, well, well - I think Orleans and Rowdy may have to have a little showdown come...December. Actually, I'd paint Orleans NO colors, but they're a little boring. Unless I can figure out how to get that fleur de lis in there.
