High Pitched Noise When Engine is Off

This one is hard to explain but recently on a ride across Talemina Scenic Drive in OK/AR, I noticed when I stopped and turned the bike off, removed the key there was a high pitched sound almost like something electrical was still on. It seemed to be coming fom the instrument panel. After I had lunch, sound was still there, started bike no problem, drove another 40 miles or so, turned bike off, no sound and it has not returned. Anyone heard of this? Is this the start of a problem? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you fill up just before lunch? The gas cap will make a high pitched sound. Next time you hear it try opening up the gas cap and see if it goes away.

Mine usually does it with a pretty full tank if I park in the sunlight.

Yep, probably just the gas cap venting.
I tell my riding buddies that's the sound of the Vulcan breathing, taking deep breaths, to get ready to whoop their butts on the road !!

My gas cap tends to whistle no matter how much or little gas is in the tank.

Whistle...

I refer to the whistle as my bike whining when I shut it off because it likes the road so much!!!!

Had her out last week- brought the battery out from the warm house, and she started up after a few potatoe, potatoe, potatoes.

Though it was 40 degrees, the feeling is good as ever.

Spring is coming!!!!!!!
