LED tail light board anyone?

I just purchased a LED circuit board to replace the two 1157 bulbs in my tail light fixture on my Nomad. I got this for $49.99 from a company called Clear Alternatives in Las Vegas. NICE PRODUCT!!! See LED-59-L http://tinyurl.com/ysdsu4

Now, CA offers a set-up for the VN750, but it is not a LED board, but rather two LED bulb fixtures with a clear lenses. Not good, IMHO and not very bright either. They also offer the clear lenses and two RED 1157 bulbs. I had this and gave it away at the Gathering 2004. Yuck!!!

So, I'm a somewhat handy Bulldog - you should see what I just created for my Nad, and I'm thinking what would it take to make this LED board work on a VN750... I measured the board and disassembled my VN750 tail light to see if the two could be, but the Nad board is too wide. So I called Clear Alternatives and asked them what they could do for us...

At this time, there is no LED board for the Vn750, but I was told that they would have to have a promise that if they go into production, that they would sell at least 30-50 pcs. They would also need a housing to ensure that the board would fit correctly. Not a problem...

I have the housing in my parts department and will package it up and send it to them. All I need to get from everyone here is a short list sent to me at [email protected] or responded to on the VN750 poll of people who would be interested. I am thinking that the price will be between $45-$55 for the board in a red LED with a 1157 socket. This would not come with a lenses, but they can include a clear or smoke lenses for an additional charge.

Now, I've tested this new LED board on my Nomad and it is BRIGHT. And anyone would be crazy not wanting to drop some of their power consumption. So, for the price that CA is ball-parking, that is a deal... And you can still use your red lenses, like I'm doing with my Nad.

So, please go to the poll on the VN750 YahooGroup or email me at [email protected] if you are interested. I have no financial stake in this and you will be buying direct from CA. My only interest is getting to buy a LED tail light for my VN750. I'm letting them demo my tail light fixture for nothing.

So, what says you riders of the mighty VN750???

I have running/brake lights on my hardbags on my VN750. Ask Chad how they look at night...

I'm hoping that Clear Alternatives will find an existing board that will fit our tail light assembly. That would make it that much easier to get them and quicker too. Right now, between this group and the VN750 YG, I think we can safely commit to at least 20 being sold right away with more from the word of mouth.

I really like the board I put on my Nomad. I've already had people comment on how sharp it looks when those LED's light up. BAM!!! They are on... NICE

I just requested membership to YG and will reply to the poll asap. I might even go for 2 since I'm buying DMAGs 700. I hope he still runs this site after I he sells the bike.

Okay Bulldog here is what I have found. A bit expensive, lifetime warranty, even if a single led fails they replace the board, plugs right into the socket no wiring needed. Looks very similar to the one you posted for your nomad.

Radiantz Hardcore Lighting. The board I bought is for a Volusia, with just a little shave on each side to allow for the screws it fit right in. Model number 9110-11. It cost me $137 but it seems to be working well.

www.hardcorelighting.com or www.radiantz.com

I picked mine up at a local shop after taking a spare tailight in to see if I could squeeze it in.

The best part. Now when sitting idle where I need to hold the brake, no noticeable drain at the meter!!!! I'm thinking this is going to be worth it in the long run.

Very Nice... I have a friend who has the Radianz in his Royal Star and it looks nice...

I'm sending an email to my contact at Clear Alternatives to check out the Volusia/Intruder board LED-66-L to see if it can work with your comments.

He should have the rear light fixture by now (I have to track it) as it took a little longer for me to get it to him as I had to find it. I did ask them to look into existing product first to see if it would fit as a from scratch design could take as much as 90 days. Either way, the cost should not exceed $60 for the board.

I've asked them to offer the board alone and with a clear lens for those who want them. I use my OEM red lens on my Nomad and it looks GREAT...

I'll post more info when I get it.
