I think you should see around 13 v. at idle, and around 14 - 14.5 at 4k (you can find more exact numbers this searching here in this forum). Good reason to go ahead and switch to a sealed maint. free battery. You'll be better off all around with doing this, better spark, less electrical system problems, no dripping acid to wreak havoc on other parts. Good luck!
