Proper operation, the headlight will be held off until bike starts (With output of stator Headlight will come on).

>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Q: Is the bar kill switch turned on ? <<<<<<<<<<<<<

Q: Is the bike in gear ?....if so, pull the clutch in.

EDIT: What year is the bike ? Does it have a side-stand switch ?

Does it turn over but not start, or does it not even turn over?

Oh, check the connector at the clutch switch, the ground path goes through the clutch switch first, then the neutral switch...

^ only if it turns over but doesn't have spark.
The side stand can be in either position for the bike to crank (because if the bike stalls on the road, you wouldn't want to need the stand down to start it)

Well, the sidestand switch regulates the spark (not the cranking)...I know that from experience with KC as a witness...my bypass splice went bad when we were ridin, and it would crank with stand up/down...soon as I fixed the splice, it fired right up....also, while we were riding, the connection began to come loose....the bike acted exactly as though there were no spark, then would kick in again...
Now, this is on my '85...mebbe the newer ones were different, but doubt it...

KC...remember that hot mama that stopped to talk to us when I was workin on the bike ?...man...aint seen her since....
