S. Louisiana Vulcan 750

Another weekeend, another ask for help. I charged the battery, full charge. Started right up. Revved her to 5000 rpms, used multimeter read 13.8v. Thought I had it, went for spin. Put 20 miles on her and she seemed ok. Stopped for cold drink. Tried to start her and nothing. Only clicking from started solenoid. Used multimeter got a 12.3v reading. Cursed quietly. Called wife. Jumped bike off. just a few minutes to get her to start. Drove her home. Let her idle in yard for 10 min., shut her off and tested. 12.5v. Turned key, hit start button, again nothing but clicks. seriously considered calling scrap yard. Could it be coil or igniter?

12.3-12.5 doesn't sound bad, mine, brand new agm rarely shows over 12.3 or4. Have you had the batt load tested? Can show good voltage but internally not releasing proper amps. Also ck and clean both main grounds!

04-3,200 miles bought July 2011 with 928 miles. Loaded with acessories to many to list here, see my albums for more details! I also make a custom tank bib specific for the 750 if anyone is interested, ck my albums for some pics.

Yes, i had it load tested last weekend. I ckecked and cleaned grounds. I disconnected wires on solenoid, cleaned and reconnected . Looked her completely for bare or skinned wire. At a loss

Might need to rebuild the starter. Taking too many amps to turn it over when it gets hot.
Take it to an auto parts house and have it tested.
