A little failing stator advice?

One stator leg dropped out on my way home from work (I monitor my voltage.) I checked the leads, and yep, one leg is gone. How long until the other legs fail? Do I really need to fix this tonight? Thanks guys.

Didn't you get the TPE, or did you put a temporary in while it was being re-wound? I can't remember.

I'd assume it's only a matter of time, but it might get you to and from work tomorrow.

I guess do you want to test your luck?

Slim, I have AAA motorcycle towing, but it certainly is not the safest situation. I just went ahead and swapped in the TPE stator- took about 2 hrs. I had a temporary one in there from Racetech- lasted 2,000 miles. I will see if I can get a warranty replacement (not that I would ever use a Racetech stator again, but it would be nice to have a working spare.) I chucked a spare R/R and some zip ties in the saddlebag, since the TPE might be a little rough on the stock R/R. The Spare R/R I have is a 30A model for a John Deere tractor- same plug!

is Are you willing to play Russian roulette. once one leg drops, its just a matter of time before you are left sitting on the side of the road.

You ended up doing exactly what I would have done in your situation.

I would send the Racetech Stator to Tim and have that on hand for a back up.. not hat you will need a back up now.. lol
