Starting issues

Ok so I just purchased a 1992 Vn750 with 14000 on it. It has sat for the most part of the last five years with the exception of being ran around the block every couple of weeks. It started great when I looked at it on Sat. put it in the truck to come home on Sun now it acts like the battery is dead, even though I installed a new battery and let it charge overnight. When loading it in the truck it bottomed out a little due to the ramp being a little to steep. Any suggestions as to what's going on

Thanks

Start with cking your ground connections, start with the batt ground to frame. Are you getting any power at all? Turn switch on does anything happen, or nothing.

04-3,200 miles bought July 2011 with 928 miles. Loaded with acessories to many to list here, see my albums for more details! I also make a custom tank bib specific for the 750 if anyone is interested, ck my albums for some pics.

Also ck your engine ground to the battery box. Those ground connections can look ok but still not making a good contact. Do you have a volt/ohm meter? That can tell you a lot. Take the batt to the auto parts store and have a load test done, that is about the only way to see if batt is good. And yes, a brand new batt straight out of the box can be bad!! I bet it is prob a simple solution!

Jump it off of the car batt, if bike starts, the batt and or charging system may have a problem.

Ok thanks for the info, that is one of the few things however I did know. Damaged stator wires wouldn't run the battery dead if the bike wasn't running would it.
