Hey all,
Not sure if this is the right place for this question but here goes! I just got my back last week and it only came with one key and its a little bent. I'm worried about the longevity of the key so I went to get a copy made at the local hardware store and the copy would not work in any spot on the bike. I'm wondering if maybe the blank they used was off or if a slightly bent key cannot be copied? Does anyone know of a way I can get spare keys made without spending a good deal of money?
Thanks in advance guys!

There is a mobile locksmith in my town that said he can do keys for my bike. I am sure a local locksmith can handle the task.

Cool I never though about that! Thanks for the tip!
The only hardware store that I could find that even had a blank that would work for a copy was ACE hardware. Home Depot and Lowes wouldn't even try when they found out it was for a motorcycle. Maybe I got lucky with the ACE copy working great, but it only cost me $1.50 or something for a duplicate key. Like the other guys are saying though, a locksmith may be your safer option.
for what its worth... I've seen Kawasaki Blank Ignition keys for sale on Ebay...$5 - $7 ???

Just like Deviate, I found our local Westlake Ace Hardware to have the correct key blank. Cut two new copies, worked first try. Course, we're not all that lucky! Locksmith will usually "git-r-done" too.

My favorite local locksmith had Kawi key blanks and cut 2 new keys for my bike, charging about 6 or 7 bucks as I recall.
I always carry a spare key when riding, and leave the other at home in a dresser drawer.

You can always buy the blanks from Ace and take them to the locksmith. Then you know you will have a working key for sure.

I just went to a local bike shop when I bought my bike and had 4 keys made for around $6 each.
All of em worked first go with no issues or need to return for re-dos
