Electric Trouble

Bike is just shutting off sporadically. Started happening just when I was turning left. Now it seems to happen whenever it feels like it. I think it is the key cylinder. It has happened a couple times while I riding at highway speed. I jiggle the key and it takes off again. Often with a loud backfire. Can someone give me some clues as to how to get the dash off or the key cylinder off. I have the headlight off and see the wires going into the key cylinder seem to be tied with a very small zip tie where they enter the key cylinder.............Thanks for the help.

You can actually rebuild the ignition module to fix this. I think OlHoss posted a how-to somewhere?

I found 2 very good posts. Oops, can't post URL's yet. "Ignition Switch" in Verses and very nice pictures from newOldUser. I love this forum. Got the fix done. Time will tell if that was the problem.
