Has anybody tried one of these?

No I haven't but talk to an old coworker who was gonna try one. Don't know how it turned out cause the cell number I have for him is disconnected now. Would like to know myself.

I would like to know more about them myself. I am curious how it would "switch off" the stator when the battery is full? does it just open the stator leads??

Basically it duty cycles the stator by opening the stator output. There is still voltage produced by the stator, it just has no place to go.

opening the stator output leads into the regulator would prevent current from flowing through the stator...same as unplugging the bullet connectors, so it makes sense that the stator would be able to cool down on the "off" cycles.

The voltage potential is still being generated, but no current flow unless the demand calls for it and the circuit is "closed"....interesting.....

I wonder if the sudden "surge" of current from the stator when the demand is required is detrimental to the health of the stator?

Time to do some research and digging up circuits...lol

The battery acts like a ginormous capacitor, so there shouldn't be a lot of inrush.

Would any of those models work on our bikes? Which one?

1985 VN700 unknown mileage (over 33K)

AGM Battery
Iridium spark plugs
NGK wires and caps
Relocated R/R
Marbled
