Unhappy Starter Or R/R

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 1987 Vulcan 750, owner said the battery was dead. It would run for 1 week and the battery would go dead. So I figured I'd purchase a new battery. The bike still has the same issue, it runs for about a week and then the battery goes dead. After doing someone research, I purchased a voltage regulator. I checked the voltage at battery terminal and it read 12.35. I brought the RPM's up to 4k and it read 13.75. Any feedback or suggestions? Is 13.75 sufficient?

under 14 at 4000 RPM is week.. and 14.5 at 4000 is even better. Test the stator VAC and Short to ground on all three legs. Also what kind of battery did you buy?

Idle sounds decent, but 54 is a bit low. It sounds like the stator is working it's way out. You really want to see around 70 or so.
