Race Tech Stator

Ok guys, I took one for the team, and thought I would try a Race Tech stator while waiting for my core to be rewound at TPS. I got the stator off of Ebay and it was delivered to me the day after!

Voltage at idle is 12.4. Since I cut the old one out of the case and made an adaptor plate, I was wondering how much centering affects output voltage? I believe I am centered pretty well axially, but perhaps the core isn't extending far enough in? Is the stator self-aligning for depth, and then you shim out any difference?

Oh, I am due for a new battery, but that really shouldn't affect the bus voltage, but perhaps it does. I know it needs some water, so I'll try that first while I'm waiting for my AGM.

I need to pull it apart anyway to fix the grommet hole that I cut oversized.

The best test would be to unhook the 3 leads from the stator and test the AC voltage between them. You want over 20 at idle, and upwards to 70+ at 5k rpm

24 VAC at idle, from what I remember haven't checked at 5K. I think my R/R is ok. My new 20A spare RR is not as efficient, and delivers 12.3V. Now I will have a spare rotor and R/R!

Not bad idle voltage, My TPE stator is pushing 35v or so at idle.

I was running a stock style R/R off a ninja 600 that was pushing 14.9 at idle, and 14.3 at 5k. I swapped it to a mosfet and am getting 14.6 everywhere.

If you have the budget for it, check out the MOSFETs. They're awesome. At idle, if i hit my brake light, it dips to 14.5, and climbs back to 14.6. Quality regulation there. :P

I was looking at MOSFETs, but the Shindingen isn't made anymore, from what I can tell. Can you recommend one? I don't mind re-wiring.

Don't know about the stator but the red lenses to replace the amber ones is a perfect match--RTSL1300---

04-3,200 miles bought July 2011 with 928 miles. Loaded with acessories to many to list here, see my albums for more details! I also make a custom tank bib specific for the 750 if anyone is interested, ck my albums for some pics.

Topped up my battery and fully charged it. I'm getting 12.43V DC at idle, and 12.18V idling with the cooling fan on. Any of you guys measured voltage with your fan on?

With the stock R/R and a TPE stator I was getting 14.9, and 14.6 with fan on.

With the mosfet I get 14.6v no matter what. I used a different mosfet off a ZX-14. Ebay search
