sparks when connecting battery.

Any one please help out there!

I have just charged my battery up after the bike stood for 3 weeks without use. When i tried to connect the negative lead it threw up sparks at me. I have not been able to start the bike, what has gone wrong? Before i took the battery off the bike was trying to start even though the ignition was off and the electrics were shut off!

Your solenoid could be bad. The start switch may be stuck on. The junction box relay may be stuck on. I would check the solenoid and start switch before messing with the junction box.

Garage
Sounds kinda like a welded/stuck starter relay. The big one up under the right side of the seat.

Many thanks guys, will check switches and relays as suggested. Would damp or even dirty connections cause problems to either components?
