Last night (10:30pm) I was on my way home from a friend's place on my '89 VN750. I usually run with my headlamp on high beam, and when a vehicle approaches, I switch it to low beam till they pass, and then back to high again.
Suddenly, as I did this, my headlight went completely out, and the "headlamp" light on the dash thingy came on.
Cursing a lot, I pulled off into the parking lot of some shopping center and pondered what I'd do. Tried flipping the switch a couple of times, with no change. Turned off the bike with the key and then back on again...still no go.
Reached up in frustration, and smacked the headlight on the front (the glass part) and the damn thing came back on...
Rode home the rest of the way (About 30 mins) with no further issues, but I didn't switch the high/low beam switch again.
What the heck happened? Headlamp going out? Short somewhere? Bad switch? Ghosts?
