please oh please don't be the stator

Last Thursday I go to take my NC motorcycle driver's license endorsement test... Also went ahead and took the regular license test (I had not studied for it but thought what the heck). Failed the MC test by one question and passed the regular written test... I haven't failed a test since high school... Was pissed to say the least. On the way back to work I'm at a red light when suddenly my bike shuts off... Went to crank it and it turned over for about 1/8 of a second then the starter solenoid started clicking... Tried jumping it off but nothing. Finally had a few friends meet me and help me haul it back to the house... Pick from the VN750 Yahoo group suggested I put her on the tender and wait till she was fully charged, then crank her up and see if the headlights brighten then dim when I rev her up. Last night I got around to that (have had bronchitis and an upper respiratory infection the past few days) and the headlight didn't brighten at all... Any other checks I can make to count out the stator? I don't think I'm nearly mechanically familiar with the bike to attempt to replace the stator, and have not heard good things about the local Kawasaki repair shop...

All help would be appreciated...
Steven

yeah, it is a little hot here, but the humidity is nowhere near as bad as Mississippi.

So then it started back up after you charged the battery?

Last night I checked for continuity among the 3 yellow wires from the r/r plug that lead to the stator and one seemed to stand out as it wasn't getting continuity with either of the other wires. After fooling with it a little bit I was able to get continuity to it. Plugged it back into the r/r and cranked up the bike. The voltage went up ever so slightly to around 14, but still not enough. I turned it off and unplugged the terminal from the r/r again and there was no continuity in that 3rd cable. Plus, and I forgot to mention it, the terminal that holds the wires was badly damaged. I think I remember it being damaged before when I relocated the r/r. Should have replaced it then...

Any suggestions? Where can I get a replacement terminal end that plugs into the r/r?
