Question about Ignition and Keys!

Is it possible to rekey the ignition???

I had a spare key of mine show up missing... i think it was stolen... so now i am worried about the bike getting stolen...
I am a paranoid guy i guess...

Anyway can i just rekey the ignition, or do i need to buy a new ignition??
I think i read a thread about rekeying the gas cap lock to match..

Any help or advice would be great.

2001 VN750.

Peace

You will have to remove the ignition to take it to a locksmith, but yes it can be re-keyed.

Ok so the ignition can be rekeyed, what about the gascap/helmet locks, toolbox??
I saw a thread about rekeying the helmet locks i think.

Thanks KM.

I spent all day out in the yard, i had my spare bike key on my ring with my truck keys, my other bike keys that i normally use were in my vest inside the house. So i used the key on the ring with my truck keys when i pulled the bike out, let it warm up, then did an oil change. Then i let it run for a bit with the fresh oil.. I pulled the keys out.. and went to work in my garage to put in a new doorknob and lock. Then i pulled the truck up to the garage and vaccummed it out and cleaned it, and installed my subwoofer.. so i had my keys in the truck. I had a garbage can next to the truck cuz i was cleaning out the trash in the truck.
I then backed the truck out and parked it back in its spot. I then unlocked my 2 4wheelers, pulled them out... i sat my keys on top of the garbage can.. and i worked on putting a new clutch cable into one of the 4wheelers. That took like an hour or so.. Then i tried getting both wheelers started... had to go get the truck and drive it back over to jump them... After an hour or so fidgeting with that, i went in for a quick bite, like 10 minutes or so, came back out, my keys were still on the garbage can, and i started to clean up and put stuff away. When i get to the bike, i grab my keys, and try to find the bike key.. and its not on there!!! I have been looking everywhere for it...

I had to come in and go to my jacket and vest hanging in my closet and get my other keys...

This is pissing me off!! I think someone snuck over and took my kawasaki bike key.. either that or it worked its way off the metal ring holder!!

I am just so worried that now someone has my key and is planning to try to steal my bike sometime...

How hard is it to remove the ignition so i can take it in and have it rekeyed??

Thanks

When I got my bike..I only had key to ignition...the gas cap/helmet locks didn't work with the ignition. I called a locksmith who drove out and made a set of keys for the gas cap/helmet lock and a spare key for ignition. Cost about $75. He could of rekeyed it all to match, but it would of cost another $50-75 more...2 keys to bike is no big deal to me..so I just went with it.
