Replacing Front Brake Switch

Does anyone have experience with replacing the front brake switch? I found an aftermarket replacement part for $8 but I have no idea where to start. I only found the rear brake switch in the manual. Comments? Suggestions?

NO experience myself, but found directions on page 329 of the Clymer manual.

Basicly -
Remove electrical connectors from switch
Remove screw holding switch to master cylinder and remove switch

Install new switch and tighten screws securely.
Ensure electrical connections are corrosion free and installed tightly.

Don`t forget the dielectric grease.

Read this thread on JIS vs. Phillips screws before starting.

Clean screw head depression well (with a pointed tool like an awl if necessary) and use hardened screwdriver tips to avoid stripping out the heads.

I have a #3 JIS screwdriver bit that came with the toolkit on my vn.
I believe a #2 JIS bit was included in the original kit, but has been lost.

If you have the OEM toolkit, use the JIS drivers. Otherwise use hardened Phillips tips.

Good luck. Enjoy the ride and stay safe with the operating brake light switch.
