Haven't done the turn signals on mine, but as far as the brake light goes, while it's not the least-expensive way to go, I would highly recommend the Clear Alternatives LED panel.

I like LEDs but don't recommend doing the turn signals for two reasons: LEDs are directional and our turn signal lenses work better with filament bulbs (broader visibility). Also, turn signals are not a constant drain on our system so there's no real savings of power.

The brake light/running light conversion to LED can save you some watts. I've done it with the cheaper 1157 LED bulbs with good, not great results. Remember, every time you brake, you're using 54 watts of power.

1157 LED bulbls:

2 years ago I picked up 4 LED, 1157 bulbs with 6 rear facing LEDs and 6 facing outward around the circumference. dirtrack, these should be better than your "good, but not great" 1157 bulbs, that all face the rear. I only paid $3 apiece for them, so was willing to gamble on their utility. Unfortunately they are unbranded and I got them from the surplus section at Princess Auto, so I can`t tell you where to find any more like them.

We will have to keep our eyes open for some brand name LED bulbs styled like this that are widely available, or online from somewhere like Clear Alternatives or Custom Dynamics.

I did all 4 turn signals, brake/running and made a second brake only signal (mounted on back of the sissy bar) using Radiantz 1.85" Dual Intensity clusters.

Very bright!

Radiantz clusters retail for $24/piece, but they show up from time to time on eBay, where I got mine for $5/piece.

The license plate light uses a small LED panel purchased on eBay for $5. I used the old bulb bases, after gutting them, along with a small loop of coat hanger wire and silicone adhesive to connect the LEDs. Easy plug-n-play, just like a regular incandescent bulb.

A question for cglennon. Why are your brake lights so yellow? Are the Radiamz Clusters amber? I can even see little amber colored light dots in both of the brake lenses in the pics taken in the daylight.

I used amber clusters in the turn signals and red in the brake/running and second brake light. However, both the amber and red clusters appear clear when powered off. The yellow dots you see behind the red brake/running lens is the camera's flash bouncing off the clear individual LEDs in the cluster. The brake/running are actually super red when on, but the brightness overwhelmed the sensor in my camera causing the color to appear yellowish.

CG, thanks much for your post, above......!

Can you comment and/or illustrate how bright your LED turn signals are in bright sunshine/broad daylight (especially in summertime)?

Also: do they show up well from the sides (even in the above described conditions)?

Finally--how well did your Radiantz clusters fit inside the turn signal stalks? Did you have to modify them--and if so, how much?

I'm sure most here would much appreciate this sort of feedback from you....
