Battery Tender female outlet

So I have a Battery Tender Jr hooked up to my battery with the plug coming out just under the seat. I was going to buy the female cigarette plug adapter like this one to hook up to it if needed. Is there any downfall to hooking it up this way. I would only use it to maybe charge my cell phone or GPS. That way I could just carry it in my bags until I need it.

I was thinking about doing this too! we saw these at the bike show here in Cleveland in January, but they wanted like $20-$25 for them! to me that was just too f-ing high!

I checked out the link, cool, thanks. but, they want almost $13 for shipping!

I looked on ebay and found this; http://cgi.ebay.com/BATTERY-TENDER-F...item5adc1d4eae

$12.89 with free shipping!

I just bought one!

i have it. works great. got mine at wally-world for 5 bucks. I've ran my gps, voltmeter, tire pump, and charged my cell with it. easily removes to hook up the battery tender. i say, go and get it. you'll be glad you did.

I checked my Wally world and they don't have it. I'll probably just order on line then.

I have one hooked up that way on mine. Got the outlet at Harbor Freight for $4.00. I got an extension for mine from Advance Auto an ran it under the gas tank. Mounted the outlet to my handlebars with zip ties. Works great.

I have been looking for one of these all summer long. been to many Wal marts, but none of them ever had them! I did find one at some bike store, but they wanted $20, for it!

I'm going to need one for the trip we are going to take in a few weeks, so I found it on ebay and just bought it.

Just make sure that the hot wire is in the center of the plug. For instance, when I jump my bike throught that hook up I have to reverse the wires at the battery that I am jumping off of.

And also don't forget to disconnect the phone or what ever you are charging when the bike is shut down.

I bought two Battery Tender pigtails and a 12V outlet from the auto parts store and will make the same thing. I don't mind making it, just wish I'd seen this thing before I got started - would be a bit neater looking, but I know it'll serve the purpose.
