machine dying

not sure if this is the right place to post
I have a 1995 VN750

ran great for first week, then starting cutting off while driving. it runs great then just stops.

have tried many fixes so far

new throttle cables
new plugs
worked on choke
cleaned gas tank vent hose and holes

ran seafoam through

bike runs smoothly the a small surge occasionally then it just cuts off.

not dure what else to try please help

Check the right air cleaner hose ...cut it at an angle so that it doesn't close off when sucking air...that might cause intermittent power loss

or it could be electrical...something with the ignition..but i would check the battery cables and make sure its grounded tight.

Its a hose that goes into the right air cleaner. Stock it is cut square and can bottom out against the housing, causing problems. Cut the end of the hose at an angle to prevent this.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Will it restart immediately? If it is electrical it might be the kill switch or one of the safety switches. I'd check the side stand switch first as suggested above though I'm not a big fan of WD40 except as a start spray for two strokes.

Can`t find a picture, but here is a diagram of where it goes. Cut off end at 45* to prevent bottoming out in air filter box.

You mentioned you were trying to get the air box out of the way ("earshave" in VN750 lingo). Is it possible this hose, which is about 1/2" to 3/4" in diameter, got pulled off? If you haven't completed the earshave and relocated or plugged (can't remember which you do with an earshave, mine's stock) the hose, it will cause problems.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!
