fuel gauge connector

If not connected, will bike still start or does the bike consider the bike out of gas and will not try to start?

I'm about 99% sure that there is no such ....Safeguard??? on the VN750.

Why would you want to run w/o the fuel guage??

Just trying to trouble shoot a bike before I really dig into it this weekend. PO said something that leds me to think this non starting bike may be an easy fix.
