bad R/R?

After a full battery charge I can get her started voltage at idle is 13.8 I rev the engin voltage goes down to 13.6~13.2 range I let off throttle and voltage goes up. Does that make my R/R bad or miss wired? the wire harness on R/R was melted and showed lots of signs of shorting arcs. I am about to order a new R/R, it has been relocated but it was done by previous owner so I don/t know if it was done right or not. But that is the path I am going down. Any advice would be great, thanks to all

Look in the verses for stator and R/R tests. Test both to be on the safe side.

Sounds like your stator is toast but yeah check them both. Take the left side cover off and in front of the battery box there is 3 yellow wires. Check those for corrosion or broke off. Unplug them one at a time to check them. I think if you mess up the order it will do something. (Damn CRS!!) haha

The three yellow wires can be plugged into any of the other yellow leads. It doesn't matter.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!
