Nuetral light not working

This isn't a big issue where I know to hold the brake to check if it is neutral or not when running but....when I bought my 01' the neutral light only came on if the handlebars were turned to the left. All the other lights work fine. Now it doesn't come on at all. The plug-in under the bike is good (had that issue with my 93). Also one time I had to park it over night in a parking lot and I locked the handlebars to the left and the battery went flat. It was an older battery but it never went flat over night. Where shoud I check next?

i was having some similar problems with my 86 vn750. when i turned the handlebars to full left. some things would quit working. the wiring harness only has so much slack in it. i removed the tank, and seat. and sure enough when i turned to full left that harness became tight. and those plugs were not making good contact. so i freed up some slack and no more electrical problems. I dont really know how to diagnose your issue. but maybe the N light bulb housing is corroded? rain maybe?

It is just the nuetral light but that is something I will check with the harness and I will be pulling the unit apart to check the light and socket for corosion. The bike was left out in the weather a LOT before I got it, now it is under cover every night.
