Spark plug wires????????

Hello everyone. OK I have an '86 750 and I have researched this question in the archives. I bought some MSD super conductor(RED) 8.5mm spark plug wire.... before I knew about the copper core OEM wire. Yes it is carbon core spiral wound(resistor wire). I've read mixed reviews on here. So will this wire I bought just plain not work or will it be just fine. I already bought the NGK spark plug boots and black copper core wire from denniskirk.com. I just really wanted red spark plug wires and I already paid 25.00 for 4 feet of this MSD wire. Any input from you guys that have used this type of wire with success would be very helpful to me. Thank You. P.S. If this style of wire will just NOT WORK I have found (Red) Dynatek 8mm Copper core wire on E-bay, I just don't want to buy more wire if I don't have to.

I don't know if it will work at all, but I wouldn't use it. I've never heard of anyone having success with carbon core wires on these bikes. Use the copper core wire, and if you want some better spark, you might try the iridium NGK's. They come highly recommended by everyone who has used them on here.

You can use carbon core but you will loose some performance, you need at least 5 feet of wire to make a set. Another problem you will have is the wire size, our coils and caps are set up for 7mm so you would have to strip the casing off to get them to fit and silicone the crap out of them to keep water out.

If you want a trouble free installation and maximum spark use 7mm copper core wire.
