Igniter

Yes, I did a search, and found some information. My igniter is fine for now, but I was looking through the electrical parts at bikebandit.com, and that thing costs more than a stator. Besides the stator and the fan motor, I was unaware the Vulcan 750 had any other super expensive electrical parts on it. It also looks like from what I read here that there is no accurate way to test it. Is this a part that has a high failure rate? I don't really trust anything in a sealed black box, and it is obvious this is not something that could not be checked/repaired beside the road. Seems to me that replacing and adjusting points once in a while would be a small price to pay for not having an expensive part like this. Jerry.

I am a motorcyclist, NOT a biker.

I don`t recall a lot of posts mentioning ignitors causing problems. There have been a few, but nowhere near the numbers of stator failures we read about.

according to the KSM and the Clymers, the Igniter is the lest likely cause of Ignition System Failures... the most common are the Ignition Coil Pick Ups Ignition Coils, Ignition Switch, and the wiring... if all of the previous test out good, then the Igniter is at fault.
