I'm going to buy these and give you a report

We all know we need to save amps and watts on our charging system when adding spots or other lights. Some have added 20 or 30 watt spots with good success not overloading the stator or r/r. I'm going to order these and let you all know with pics and impressions if they are worth the money.

H3 LEDS

Time line will be a few weeks. I'll be installing in a clear lens spot.

Look BRIGHT! I'm looking forward to your report. Might want to add them to my baby if your power consumption is minimal and your lumination meats your expectations.

Power usage is only 1 watt. Bought them tonight on a buy it now for $6.99 with free S&H. Hope they aren't crap but at least it's not a lot of money. Will post on this thread asap.

This is what I ordered. Most likely, you get what you pay for so I'm not expecting much...

I also got some real similar to these. The "bulbs" are not as bright as you'd think they are- they need a lot of help from the reflective surfaces in whatever housing they go into. They certainly do not create a concentrated beam of light like regular filament type bulbs do. They'll increase your visibility factor for oncoming folks but I wouldn't expect much additional forward lighting for the (motor) driver. I never got around to mounting mine because I made the decision to sell before starting the install process. I'll just put the lights on whatever I get to replace the Vulcan.

Keemez - Great reply thanks. My intentions are to increase the 'visibility factor' like you say. I am anxious for LED's to improve to be used as true headlamps/driving lights.

You betcha. LEDs as commonplace lighting devices is not long off- there was a writeup about this subject in a recent issue of Car&Driver. Audi is experimenting with the technology some. As the cost of manufacturing high power LEDs decreases, we can expect to see more and more out there. I'm all for it.

Where did you find the 3 watt bulbs? I'm building a 750 spectre bobber and would like everything but the headlight to be LED.

Arc - Do you have purchase/installation specifics/pics on both the 3W tail-lightbulbs and the HID headlight conversion?
