Neutral light not working

Hi Guys - when I bought the 04 bike a few months ago the neutral light did not work - so I thought no prob - I'll change the bulb at some point - well last night I decided to do just that and found out that it is apparently not the bulb - does anyone know where the neutral switch is located or what else I might check?

Thanks for any suggestions

jim

The neutral switch is located at the lower, middle, rear of the engine toward the bottom. There should be a single green wire attached.

I guess the best thing to do is do a continuity test with the ohms meter. Disconnect wire and test switch in gear and in neutral, bike off.

Touch red lead to switch and black lead to earth (ground)

Thumbs down

I checked the switch today
No Continuity - is the switch just an unscrew the okd one - put in a new one kind of a fix? or do you have to drain the oil or open some part of the case?

Just remove the old and install the new, use a drain pan in case some oil does come out. With key on touch the green wire to ground, the neutral light should come on.
