VN750 R/R replacement specifics

Can anyone tell me if the R/Rs are model/year specific? If I need one for my '93 750 can I use one from a '92 or '94?

Well Johnny A, I would have agreed with Jace before I checked out his link to Kawasaki Regulators. I have been under the impression that the r/r on the vn750 has a 6 pin electrical connector on a wire pigtail, and interchangable between all model years. This link shows 3 different r/r models, two with no pigtail (including your `93 model), just a direct 6 pin plug on the r/r body. The third has a 4 pin pigtail and 2 separate, individual wires to plug in. They are specified for different years, and two have a different spacing for mounting holes, while third does not specify at all.

Check out Electrosport`s Model ESR 260. http://www.electrosport.com/products...detail-585.php

It is $20 more, but has the pigtail mounted 6 pin connector, and is specified to fit all vn700/750 models from 1985 to 2006. If you are going to do a r/r relocation to the frame by the left foot peg for better cooling, when you replace it, you may need the little bit extra wiring included in the pigtail. The reg/rect in jace`s link may be just as reliable, when installed, as Electrosports is. So take a look at yours to see if it has a pigtail connector, and decide which one you want or need.

The part number for '92 and '93 is the same: 21066-1055. The part number for '94 is 21066-1089. My guess is that that electrically all year models are the same and the differences are mechanical.

Here's one that LAnce328 found on EBAY for me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

As close to the original as I have found and made in Japan. Installed (relocated) this weekend. Seems to be excellent quality. I guess time will tell. I have an '89 but believe yours should be similar. Think they changed in '94. Good luck wih the changeout. Piece of cake, really.
