I am replacing my spark plug wires. The left front wire is leaking. I ordered a generic set that was supposed to fit my bike, and it only came with two wires. Additionally, they didn't have the screw on terminal at the coil end.

So I went to Kawasaki Parts House to order from the parts diagram, and they don't have the wires as a set, but it looks like it requires assembly. Looking at my existing wires, they look factory assembled, rather than a collection of pieces.

Does anyone have a better solution?

I'm pretty sure the coil and the plug boot both have a spike inside the holes to push the wire onto. You'll just have to keep the threaded cap on the coil end and slide it onto the new wire before installing. Do the same with the rubber sleeve on the plug boot end. This is assuming the new wire is the same diameter.

It looks like that threaded cap isn't available, so I would have to reuse the old one. Which is fine, except there is a small "stopper" that the threaded cap holds on to (also not available), and I don't know how to transfer those to new wires.

I hate to double post, but I wasn't clear in the last post. What do I buy for new plug wires? Has anyone had success replacing them?

Pretty sure they are 7mm wires caps and "compression" rubbers.
Get copper core wire for points and spiral core for cdi. Cut to length.
I know you can order just the caps.
Try the K&L catalog.

K&L is https://klsales.com?

Google had a bunch of results for K&L, and I figured it wasn't K&L Wine Merchants. 😉

Thanks!

I've seen some posts where the threaded cap at the coil was re-used, just have to work with it a bit. It's somewhat of a compression fitting when tightened down. Don't over tighten, it will crack, just finger snug. Even 8mm wires have been used with the stock fittings/plug boots, probably just need to shave the rubber so it fits inside at the ends.

https://www.vn750.com/forum/gtsearch...20plug%20wires

If there's a split in that stopper, just pry it open, then crimp it back onto the new wire, put the threaded cap onto the wire first. The stopper just needs to be tight enough so the wire can't slip out of the cap.

I found an EBay store selling plug wires! So I took the path of least resistance. 🙂

They are from Cedar Grove Motors out of Central WI. Complete except for the coil end caps and pinch washers. NGK brand.

$46 shipped.

I think I sourced my NGK wires from ebay back when I replaced them, too. same deal, reused the o-ring/washer and coil cap. I went for black, even though red was available and red=more faster. Sorry I didn't see this earlier!
