Stator?

Yesterday when I was riding to work, I noticed that my headlight started to flicker a bit. I just wrote it off as maybe needing a new bulb. Fast forward to when I was going home. I went to crank my bike, and the starter dragged like the battery was dead. So I went and got a jump box and jumped the bike off. It picked up and ran no issue. I drove it six or so miles with no issue. Stopped at a red light before getting on the interstate and it almost died. I had to keep the RPMs up to keep it from shutting off. I got on the interstate and rode it home no issue. Until I get in my driveway. As soon as I hit my driveway and let it idle into my yard, it died. Went to crank it and no dice. I'm pretty sure that the stator will be the issue, but I'm curious. Seeing as how the bike will run when the RPMs are up, is the stator completely gone? Or is there something I can do to check and see if I should really be heartbroken?

Do the stator tests as described on this forum and in the manual. But I'd bet you a new Vulcan S that your stator is shot. Charge your battery back up to full and then do the stator tests and report back

Ohm test the R/R too, procedures for both are in the manual. Download manuals are in my signature.

Alright, thanks for the direction. It'll probably be this weekend before I get a chance to check it out. I'll let y'all know what I find.
